Information on the area of Sant Gervasi

Sarrià-Sant Gervasi is located on the border with Collserola park, the most protected green area of the city of Barcelona. Its proximity to the mountains means it is mainly a residential area and also very affluent. It has many parks and green areas and this is where the majority of international schools and also numerous hospitals are located. The district is made up by the old municipal areas of Sarrià , Vallvidrera-les Planes and Sant Gervasi de Cassoles .
Sarrià, is extremely appealing as it has maintained the old part of its historical centre. The other areas are Putget, Vallvidrera and Tibidabo-les Planes.
Here you can find many houses as dwellings rather than flats and apartments, indeed some of the most expensive properties in Barcelona can be found in this neighbourhood. Despite its location this area is extremely well serviced by transport with the local train (FFCC) and an exhaustive local bus network. There are local markets as well as good commercial shopping aras such as Calle Muntaner and Calle Balmes.
One of the most famous tourist attractions in this area is the tramvia blau which is a tram service from San Gervasi to the Tibidabo area.
